TK Men – Lindsay McKay

As one of the only true “men’s” boutiques in Chicago, TK Men is more than just a place to buy clothing. Shoppers are encouraged to play xBox, watch TV, and down a PBR while shopping. The store is a collection of labels that cater toward the modern man. With pictures of Playboy magazine adorning the walls, this men’s boutique gives its customers what they really want.

Growing up close to her brother, Lindsay McKay is no stranger to the “boys’ world.” Interested in fashion, she studied fashion marketing in Milan. After learning from different parts of the world, she landed jobs as a stylist for TV shows in New York City and Los Angeles. Eventually she set her sights on opening TK Men in Chicago. The boutique has recently been featured in such publications as Time Out Chicago, Chicago Magazine, and the Chicago Sun Times.

The boutique targets men who like to play, but look nice while doing it. Items include specialty ties, blazers, and boots. There’s also a collection of casual t-shirts, jackets, and belt-buckles.

Michelle Tan Designs - Michelle Tan

Michelle Tan Designs are refined yet adventurous. Crafted in basic colors, brown, blacks, and tans, Michelle takes risks in texture and fabric. Often leaving seams unfinished, her overall look is edgy and upscale. Looks are meant to be worn more than one way, transferring from one purpose to the next. This unusual combination has given her success in the Chicago market. Michelle opened her own boutique in Bucktown featuring her designs as well as a few hand-picked others.

Michelle started designing at the early age of eight. Her first design was made out of newspaper, since then she has moved onto silk, wool, and cashmere. A graduate of Chicago's International Academy of Merchandising and Design, Michelle has been successful right from the start. It wasn’t easy, but she eventually started to see a return on her designs. She plans to give back to Chicago fashion and help other emerging designers by providing space in her boutique for brand-new designers.
